The route taken is the red line on the map - although problems in the Darfur region of Sudan see us fly from Cameroon, over Chad and Sudan, to Ethiopia.

After far too long sat behind a desk 2005 saw your less than intrepid explorer grab the money and flee from the Civil Service for a life on the open road. Periods of voluntary work (?) followed in South Africa and Sri Lanka before an emotional return to Blighty to see friends and family. Anyway, the travel bug has bitten and infestation would appear so severe that I am, once again, setting off .... this time across Africa ... north to South, Malaga to Capetown, 22 countries, 20,000 miles!

Hi John
Hope you've had a good weekend. Have tried texting but you're obviously out of range. Very good commentary and illustrations so far. I'm imaqining you on your 'throne' at the back of the bus! How's the accommodation?

Feedback from Dubai ... it rained for a day and a half!!
Rugby nearly a washout, bumped into Johno, Jason, Damien Hopley, Crybaby Hastings, Naomi Campbell (!!! @ hotel)and Austin.
Drank copious volumes of Guiness.
And watched Spurs' shambolic loss 3-0 to " a packet of sweets..." otherwise it was good.
Football latest .. Man U 2-1 up with 10min to go, Arse-Porto 0-0 what a surprise as a draw allows both through!
Trust you are well
Mac
